Free & Equal Live Documentary
This live performance goes deeper into Darius’ quest to understand the life of his third great grandfather who was part of the Port Royal Experiment. It also includes live music directed by Eric Crawford, Gullah Music Historian from Coastal Carolina University. The role of music is brought out in this extension of the Free & Equal app, cluing audiences into how it both inspired and informed the formerly enslaved people as they emerged into becoming full citizens of the United States.
This live documentary can also include performances by Poet Laurette Marcus Amaker and Grammy Award winning Ranky Tanky. In the current iteration AR is presented as video on screen, but a version can be developed in which audiences experience the AR on their own devices.
